“The unexamined life is not worth living.”

This famous quote by a Greek philosopher, Socrates, stresses the importance of continual growth through the art of self-introspection. And rightfully so! Looking inward and understanding the strengths and weaknesses of an individual is the first step on this journey. Likewise, in the case of an organisation, the road to excellence begins with its human assets. Capitalising on the fortes and remedying the shortcomings of the employees within a company by assessing them can significantly enhance productivity and bolster the chances of a successful business venture.

Built under the light of this framework is Optimum Assessment, a company that credits assessments to be a pivotal factor for personal and professional development. The company leverages a digital assessment platform—Optimum Assessment Platform—to help organisations obtain valuable insights into one’s core competencies and help them grow effectively and efficiently. The highly interactive and flexible Optimum Assessment Platform is designed to provide a holistic test experience to every entity involved in the evaluation process right from the participant who takes the test to the developer who compiles the question to the person who marks the test. Be it helping organisations transition from paper-based modes to online assessments or optimising customers’ existing online assessment procedures with easy-to-use platforms, Optimum Assessment is changing the narratives of evaluation systems since its inception in 1990. Optimum Assessment was initially founded as Citrus Andriessen over three decades ago. The brand still operates as Citrus Andriessen in the Netherlands. However, internationally, the company is popularly known as Optimum Assessment.

The company first launched a breakthrough SaaS solution, TeleToets, in the Netherlands that replaced old-school evaluation practices and provided a stable and secure online assessment environment. However, in the wake of continually evolving technology, TeleToets was gradually replaced by the Azure-based Optimum Assessment Platform. Today, the robust Optimum Assessment Platform utilisesOptimum Assessment’s deep-rooted technical foundation and finds use for both formative and summative testing. Besides being ISO 27001 certified and GDPR-compliant, Optimum Assessment Platform supports various international standards like QTI 3.0, LTI 1.3, IMS Global, among others, making it suitable for regional and global use.
“The modern future-proof architecture of the Optimum Assessment Platform will be sustainable for at least the next 15 years, with no migrations required during this period,” remarks Martin van den Berge, CEO at Optimum Assessment.

We create the optimal testing experience, anytime and anywhere. Our innovative digital tools enable people and organisations to excel by valuing knowledge

Optimum Assessment’s end-to-end Assessment solution comes with nine advanced web-based assessment modules. These are closed-circuit, highly interactive modules that have built-in software and servers to handle high volumes and peak loads and allow users to design, monitor, and analyse tests easily.

Adding another feather to Optimum Assessment’s state-of-the-art Assessment solution is online proctoring that enables users to take examinations in the comfort of their homes, in schools or on-the-go. The completely integrated functionality comprises four simple steps–system check, exam environment screening, ID verification, and live stream and recording of the online test. These make remote invigilation and web-based reviewing of exams possible at any given point and time. Optimum Assessment’s latest introduction is Optimum Sprint—a lighter version of the stellar Optimum Assessment solution—that is explicitly designed for practical and targeted assessment. The extremely interactive evaluation instrument Sprint facilitates on-the-job assessments of candidates by either using pre-defined content or creating content from scratch. “We create the optimal testing experience, anytime and anywhere. Our innovative digital tools enable people and organisations to excel by valuing knowledge,” says Martin.

Besides helping clients navigate the online examination landscape, Optimum Assessment also positions itself as a partner in digital testing and develops tailored solutions for its customers across various domains like hospitality certification, digitisation of legal procedures, and others. Also, similar to a Learning Management System, the company’s solutions have gradually emerged as a firm stanchion to several educational institutions in their transition from paper-based to an online mode of examinations.

Through its wide plethora of solutions, Optimum Assessment is setting new standards for online assessment worldwide. With customers across Europe, Germany, UK, the Netherlands, India, and several other countries, Optimum Assessment looks forward to expanding its geographical footprints. In the years to come, the company aims to bolster its online proctoring by employing advanced technologies like AI to introduce features such as ‘behaviour detection’ and ‘data acquisition’. It even plans to utilise different AI engines to increase transparency in the scoring of open questions in the recent future.
